IBER CONFERENCE HISTOY
The IBER conference, or Iberian Joint Meeting on Atomic and Molecular Physics, is a biannual Portuguese-Spanish scientific conference which was started in 1993 by the late Prof. Gerardo Delgado-Barrio, who served as first President (1988-95) of the Group of Atomic and Molecular Physics (GEFAM) of the Royal Spanish Physics (RSEF) and Chemistry (RSEQ) societies, and later as RSEF President in the period 1997-2005.
The IBER Conference extended the initial format of the Spanish national GEFAM meetings to a larger biannual collaboration with the Portuguese Physics Society (SPF), establishing the first Portuguese-Spanish Iberian conference on Atomic and Molecular Physics. The IBER Conference has run uninterrupted for fifteen editions (the 2021 Conference was postponed to 2022 because of the COVID pandemic). The Conference is organized sequentially in a Portuguese and Spanish city. The Scientific Committee is formed by GEFAM and SPF.
